Definitions of Sports and Games
Game
An activity typically involves skill. Knowledge or luck in which you follow fixed rules and try to win against an opponent.
- Involve both mental activities and physical activities.
- Examples: Chess, Ludo, saltire, Tag, Hide and Seek and hopscotch.
- Mostly played indoors.
- Usually involved chance, especially board games and card games
Sports
Sports is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another team.
- Mainly involve physical activities.
- Examples: Baseball, soccer, mining, cycling, rock-climbing, rugby and cricket.
- Mostly played outdoors.
- Do not involve chance
Differences between sports and games
⦁ Sports mean competition, on the other hand, games mean entertainment.
⦁ Sports involved mainly physical activities but games involve both mental activities and physical activities.
⦁ Sports focus is one person’s ability, the difference with game focuses on one or more abilities and players too.
⦁ Sports are mostly played outdoors, and behind games are mostly played indoors.
⦁ A person participating in sports is called “an athlete or a sports person”.A person who participates in a game is known as a “Player”.
