Greenhouse Effect Essay in English for Students

Greenhouse Effect Essay

A glass house made for certain plants that cannot withstand the extreme cold in winter is called a greenhouse. This glass house traps the sun’s heat inside and raises the temperature outside. This is an example of the greenhouse effect.

Our environment acts like a greenhouse. Sunlight heats the Earth’s surface. Carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere trap lightning, keeping the Earth warm. Human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels in cars and natural disasters, also increase the Earth’s temperature.

This phenomenon is known as global warming. Some greenhouse gases are CO2, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). These gases damage the ozone layer of the atmosphere and warm the earth. Scientists expect temperatures to rise by 4 degrees Celsius each over the next 100 years. Global warming could melt the polar ice caps, causing flooding in some countries.
