Water Pollution Essay
Pollution is the entry of harmful substances into the environment. These harmful substances are called pollutants. There are different types of pollution, such as water, air, noise, dust, etc.
Water pollution can be defined as the entry of pollutants into reservoirs such as rivers, lakes, seas, oceans, groundwater etc, due to human activities. Water is called a life-giving liquid because, without it, there is no life on earth. Like all other living things, we need to use water to survive. In addition, we need water for many other activities, such as cleaning, washing, cooking, and watering. But the water is getting polluted day by day in different ways.
Factories contaminate toxic chemicals and waste by discharging it into nearby water sources without treatment. Farmers use pesticides and fertilizers for their crops that dissolve in rivers, canals and ponds. Humans pollute the water by putting waste in it. Watercraft pollutes the water by adding oil, food, waste and human waste.
Water pollution has many negative effects. Contaminated water is very harmful to health. Many people get infected with many diseases such as typhoid fever, malaria, cancer, etc. by drinking unclean water. The resulting water also destroys fish and plants by reducing the amount of oxygen in the reservoir. Dirty water and sewage are by-products of everyday life activities such as soap, toilets and soap use. This wastewater contains chemicals and bacteria that are harmful to human life and environmental health.
Therefore, appropriate measures should be taken to prevent water pollution. Disposal of human and industrial waste in ponds and rivers should be avoided. Reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers in agriculture and promote organic farming. More and more plants and trees need to be planted to prevent pesticides from reaching nearby water sources.
We have to keep the water clean. It will be easier to drink clean and healthy water if everyone fulfills their responsibility to prevent water contamination.
